Vince McMahon is a prominent figure in professional wrestling and entertainment. As the long-time chairman and CEO of WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment), McMahon played a pivotal role in transforming the company from a regional promotion into a global entertainment powerhouse.
He is known for creating WrestleMania and expanding WWE’s reach through television, pay-per-view events, and international tours. Despite his significant contributions to the industry, McMahon’s career has been marked by numerous controversies, including allegations of steroid distribution in the 1990s and recent accusations of sexual misconduct and trafficking.
These scandals have impacted his legacy, overshadowing his achievements in wrestling entertainment.
Vince McMahon Resigns Amid 2024 Sex Trafficking and Assault Allegations by Janelle Grant

In January 2024, Vince McMahon, the long-time CEO of WWE and executive chairman of TKO Group Holdings, became embroiled in a major scandal following a lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant.
Grant, who worked at WWE between June 2019 and March 2022, is also alleged to have asked McMahon for thousands of dollars worth of clothes as well as money for plastic surgery and other gifts, according to the court filing.
The lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, accuses McMahon and former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis of sexual assault, sex trafficking, and emotional abuse.
According to the allegations, McMahon coerced Grant into a sexual relationship and shared explicit photos and videos of her with other male colleagues.
The lawsuit also claims that McMahon subjected Grant to increasingly depraved sexual demands, including forced encounters with Laurinaitis and other individuals within the company. Grant alleges that these abuses were part of a broader pattern of misconduct and exploitation within WWE.
McMahon, who has a history of similar allegations and investigations, stepped down from his executive roles at WWE and TKO Group in the wake of the scandal. In his statement, McMahon denied all accusations, labelling them as lies and fabrications. He stated his intent to vigorously defend himself and clear his name.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified monetary damages and aims to void a $3 million nondisclosure agreement that Grant signed, claiming she only received a fraction of the agreed amount. Grant’s legal team hopes that the case will bring accountability to WWE and prevent future instances of abuse.
This scandal marks another significant controversy in McMahon’s tumultuous career, impacting the reputation and operations of WWE and TKO Group. As the legal battle unfolds, the case will likely have far-reaching implications for the wrestling industry and corporate accountability.
